When Despondency Triggers Desperation — The Sad Quest of Hon. Sam Aro

The high-stakes battle for the All Progressives Congress (APC) Kogi West Senatorial District ticket has degenerated into a classic political novella. Filled with high-drama, backroom maneuvering, and bitter rivalries, the internal contest has now entered a judicial act as Hon. Sam Aro takes his grievances to court.

Yet, rather than evoking public sympathy, his legal offensive has triggered widespread indignation across the district. To many, this represents a brazen attempt to stand established truth on its head and rewrite the transparent history of the party primaries.

To imagine that a post-facto legal challenge could somehow manufacture a mandate out of thin air reflects a level of political naivety that borders on the absurd. The fundamental facts of the primary election remain unchanged, despite attempts to obscure them through litigation:
Hon. Sam Aro formally opted out of the primary contest prior to voting.

He did not participate in or attend the election process where party members cast their votes.

Following the conclusion of the exercise, he launched a campaign claiming entitlement to a mandate he never contested for.

“Until those involved in the forgery and criminal substitution in the first instance are apprehended and prosecuted, this irritating disturbance of public sanity will persist.”

Perambulating through court corridors in search of what was never possessed is an exercise in futility. It taxes public patience, strains judicial resources, and undermines the foundational discipline of internal party democracy.

When despondency and helpless hopelessness set in after a political miscalculation, desperation inevitably takes over. However, playing the victim card in an arena governed by verifiable electoral processes rarely yields results.

While the courts will ultimately deliver their verdict based on statutory law and party rules, the political judgment of Kogi West residents is already clear. Ambition unanchored from truth produces little more than a public spectacle. As the legal proceedings unfold, this saga stands as a stark reminder: no amount of legal posturing can transform a voluntary withdrawal into an electoral victory.
