Yagba in Focus: Quality Representation Should Be Our Politics

We want to bring to public notice that some group of people are on the verge of disrupting the relative peace of the political atmosphere of Yagba Federal Constituency (YFC) as they plan to hold a press conference in Lokoja anytime soon.

We agree that the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (FRN) is not against peaceful gathering. Those who intend to hold a media parley are entitled to exercise their fundamental human rights. One, however, wonders if it is in the interest of the development of Yagba Federal Constituency. We are also concerned that their gathering should not be a challenge to the peaceful coexistence of Yagba people, residents, and indigenes alike.

Information reaching us is that the said press conference bothers on the rotation of the seat of Yagba Federal Constituency between its 3 Local Government Areas – Yagba West, Yagba East, and Mopamuro.

Assuming this is true, one will wonder and ask critical questions if that’s what should be the bone of contention in Yagba Federal Constituency now. We have two sons in the National Assembly: Hon Leke Abejide in the House of Representatives and Senator Sunday Karimi in the Senate.

As developmentally-minded Yagba persons, the public will agree with us that it is better to harness our strengths to support our sons in the National Assembly to attract development to Yagba Federal Constituency and Kogi West Senatorial District, especially when they have barely spent half of their subsisting four-year tenures in office.

In other words, our politics in YFC should be that of quality representation, desiring more dividends of democracy from the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration, through our federal parliamentarians.

All sincere Yagba persons and general public are called to ignore the malicious and incoherent report that would or may come from this anit-developmental press conference.

Like the popular saying that politicians only think about the next election but statesmen think about the next generation, we as statesmen want the public to disregard this political jobbers who are out of political business because of President Tinubu’s style of governance.

To further prempt the outcome of this Press Conference, we agree that
as a group that we can discuss the future of our federal constituency, we also want to put in on record that there is no local government that had been marginalised intentionally.

Its on record that the ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC) has graciously allowed their Yagba Federal Constituency ticket to Mopamuro two consecutive times, same sponsors of this purported press conference frustrated the victory for same Mopamuro for selfish interests and personal gains.

It is also on record that Mopamuro will always raise a candidate to contest the House of Representatives seat whenever they are asked to consider zoning (an issue to be emphasized on later).

We want to call the attention of the Presidency to the rumour going on that they have the support of Hon. James Faleke. We know that the respected legislator will never side with any anti-Okun charade.

We also plead with the sponsors of this press conference not to involve the name of our revered Hon. James Faleke in their political shenanigans as he is not from Yagba Federal Constituency. For the avoidance of doubt, he is a fourth term congressman representing Ikeja Federal Constituency.

We love peace in Yagba, and we will pursue peace and won’t allow anyone to disrupt our peaceful coexistence.

Thanks and God bless.

Signed:
Alliance for Great Yagba.
