Yari Remains Firmly in APC, Denies Any Political Alliance Outside Party.

A Northern elder and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), former Governor of Zamfara State and serving Senator, Abdul’aziz Yari, has reaffirmed his total loyalty to the APC, declaring that he has no political affairs or alliances with any other political party beyond the one he belongs to.
Recent media reports attempting to dent the image of Senator Abdul’aziz Yari by alleging that he held a closed-door political meeting with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar have been found to be false, misleading, and without any factual basis.
Democracy Newsline gathered that no media organization reached out to Senator Yari for clarification before publishing the reports. Instead, speculative stories were circulated claiming that the former Zamfara State Governor met privately with Atiku Abubakar in Abuja ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Investigations by Democracy Newsline clearly show that there was no closed-door meeting, no political discussion, and no alliance of any kind between Senator Abdul’aziz Yari and the former Vice President.
A close political associate of Senator Yari, who spoke to Democracy Newsline, criticized the reports and advised journalists to always seek verification before going to press, stressing that reckless reporting damages public trust.
Further findings revealed that Senator Abdul’aziz Yari only had a brief, chance encounter with Atiku Abubakar at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja. According to a serving Senator close to Yari, who declined to be named, the encounter occurred openly at the departure lounge and lasted only a few moments.
The source explained that Atiku Abubakar was at the airport on Monday, February 2, preparing to travel to Saudi Arabia for the lesser hajj (Umrah). He was accompanied by family members and associates when he briefly met Senator Yari.
“While waiting at the departure lounge, the former Vice President and Senator Abdul’aziz Yari met by chance, exchanged greetings, shook hands, and shared pleasantries like statesmen. That was all,” the source said. “There was no meeting at any residence and no political discussion whatsoever.”
Democracy Newsline’s investigation categorically disclaims and dismisses the false information circulating in sections of the media suggesting that Atiku hosted Senator Yari in a private meeting in Abuja.
Senator Abdul’aziz Yari is widely known as a man of his word, consistent in his political ideology and unwavering in his commitment to the APC. Reports attempting to portray otherwise are not only inaccurate but deliberately misleading.
Democracy Newsline urges media practitioners to uphold professional standards by verifying facts before publication and avoiding speculative narratives that misinform the public.
