Youth Leader condemns inclusion of Ajaokuta LGA in the map seeking the creation of Okura state

A Youth leader from Ajaokuta Local Government Area, (LGA), Comrade Abdulraheem Okekenu has condemned in strong terms the inclusion of the Local Government in the map seeking the creation of Okura state from the present Kogi State.

In a statement made available to newsmen in Lokoja over the weekend, he noted that the River Niger serves as natural boundary which cannot be disputed and advise the agitators to immediately delete Ajaokuta LGA from the Said map.

He described the move as an invitation to anarchy and crisis, saying that the area has never been part of them everywhere they have sujorned in the past.

“Speaking further the activist said, “was Ajaokuta LGA part of their map when they were in Benue or Enugu. Why this afternoon. When they are leaving us in Kabba province they left alone, when they are leaving Kwara they equally left alone. Was there any time that we have been part of them.

He called on the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu to immediately call the leadership of the national Assembly to order, saying that, they cannot hide under any guise to perpetarte the wrong thing that will cause crisis and anarchy.

Comrade Okekenu also called on the Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo to immediately step in and cautioned those agitators of Okura to avoid any action that will further aggravate the already tensed atmosphere.

“Let me caution that this matter is a serious one that must not be taking lightly. I’m calling on president Ahmed Bola Tinubu to immediately hault this move. The federal government cannot afford to allow crisis anywhere at this time, considering the fact that government is already spending huge resources to curtail insurgency and banditry across the country.

“I’m also calling on the Kogi state Governor to immediately stem this tide that is capable of causing crisis for his administration, which is already consolidating on the gains recorded by the immediate past Governor of the state, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, in the areas of security and peaceful co-existence of the various ethnic groups in the state.

While acknowledging the fact that it is their own right to seek creation of their own state, he reminded them that their right stops where others starts from, saying that it is an affront on the people of Ajaokuta LGA by including them in their map without seeking their consent.”we have never been part of them and we will never be.
