In a major security breakthrough, the Zamfara State Police Command has arrested a Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) officer for allegedly supplying arms and hard drugs to notorious bandits terrorizing the region.
The operation also led to the capture of a notorious bandit leader and two wives of another kingpin. The women were intercepted while on their way to deliver live ammunition to their husband in the dangerous terrains of Anka and Bukkuyum local government areas.
Zamfara State Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Dalijan, who paraded the suspects in Gusau, revealed that bandits have resorted to using women in hijabs to transport weapons unnoticed.
In addition to the arms haul, a fake doctor treating wounded terrorists was apprehended, with drugs worth over N100 million recovered.
The police seized rifles, anti-aircraft ammunition, and other illegal items in the raid, dealing a significant blow to the logistics chain of the bandits.
