On Friday, former Kano State Governor and National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, formally resigned from his position, citing the need to focus on his personal health.
However, Ganduje’s resignation may have been less about his health and more about growing internal pressure. Sources confirmed that some powerbrokers within the APC compelled him to step down due to controversies surrounding his leadership, including allegations of financial misconduct currently being challenged in court. Other accusations include forcing aspirants within the party to pay heavy fees for nomination forms.

Yet, despite these clouds of controversy, Ganduje leaves behind a legacy that no national chairman of the APC has matched in its 12-year history. His short but impactful tenure reshaped the party in ways that will be remembered for years.
