2026 Ovia Osese Festival : ODU President Visits Humanitarian Minister, seek for collaboration

Ahead of 2026 Ovia Osese cultural festival in Ogori, Ogori-Magongo local government area of Kogi state, the National President of Ogori Descendent Union (ODU) Dr. Aiso Gabriel has visited the Minister of Humanitarian and Poverty Reduction Dr. Bernard M. Doro to officially invite him to the forthcoming all important festival.

The visit according to Dr Aiso was to seek the collaboration of the Ministry toward hosting of numerous activities line up to showcase the cultural heritage of Ogori people.

The yearly festival which normally takes place two weeks after Easter break is a week-long of celebrations and festivities in Ogori community to enable indigenes of Ogori from far and near to showcase there aged long Culture and Tradition of preparing young girls for womanhood before marriage.

Dr Gabriel used the occasion to commended sons and daughters of Ogori at home and in the diaspora, by birth or by association who have contributed immensely to the success of 2025 Ovia Osese Festival.

He assured that the 2026 edition of the festival would come along with a lot of innovations to promote the cultural heritage of Ogori people.

Ovia Osese is a festival that is registered nationally and recognized by United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
