The African Democratic Congress (ADC) Legacy Group in Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency has reaffirmed its unwavering support for the party’s House of Representatives candidate for the 2027 general elections, Dr. Idris Rufus Oluwafemi, popularly known as IDRUFEM, and other candidates of the party.
The declaration was made at a strategic stakeholders’ meeting involving ADC local government chairmen and executives across the federal constituency, held in Kabba, Kogi State.
At the meeting, party leaders and stakeholders reiterated their commitment to the ADC’s established leadership structure, expressing determination to work collectively towards securing victory for the party in the 2027 general elections.
They also cautioned against political tendencies driven by personal interests, insisting that genuine party loyalty, sacrifice and commitment should remain the guiding principles of the ADC.
Speaking at the meeting, the Ijumu LGA Legacy ADC Chairman, Akinyemi Felix Ola, commended members for their steadfastness and resilience, noting that the political journey of the group had started long ago.
He observed that those who had remained committed despite prevailing challenges were individuals who understood the vision and long-term objectives of the party, rather than those motivated by immediate political benefits.
Similarly, the Kabba-Bunu Legacy ADC LGA Chairman, Mr. Andrew Kayode, declared that the ADC belonged to everyone, regardless of individual status or political influence.
He particularly commended IDRUFEM for his humility, accessibility and willingness to listen to party members, describing these qualities as important factors in sustaining unity and confidence within the party.
Kayode expressed optimism that every loyal member would ultimately benefit from the collective success of the party.
Addressing the gathering, the ADC House of Representatives candidate, Dr. Idris Rufus Oluwafemi (IDRUFEM), appreciated party faithful for their courage, sacrifices and unwavering commitment to the ADC project.
He urged members not to be discouraged by intimidation, political propaganda or other challenges, but to remain focused, united and committed to the collective objective of winning the 2027 elections.
IDRUFEM assured the stakeholders that their loyalty and sacrifices would not go unrewarded, stressing that victory in the forthcoming general elections was a priority that must be pursued with determination.
According to him, the emergence of the ADC in the constituency would create fresh opportunities for development, effective representation and a brighter future for the people of Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency.
Also speaking, the Odolu Ward Chairman, Mr. Omonana, charged party members not to lose sight of the 2027 House of Representatives election, assuring them that the sacrifices of committed members would receive deserved recognition.
In their contributions, representatives from Ijumu expressed confidence in IDRUFEM’s leadership and political aspiration, recalling previous political experiences in which grassroots members worked tirelessly for candidates who eventually abandoned the party and its supporters.
They consequently pledged their renewed commitment to the ADC and its candidate, while calling on women and youths to actively participate in the mobilisation and campaign efforts ahead of the elections.
Kabba representatives at the meeting equally reaffirmed their total support for IDRUFEM and all ADC candidates, promising to work assiduously towards the party’s success.
The women leaders also pledged to intensify grassroots mobilisation through door-to-door campaigns and the proposed Operation Lock Down Your Polling Unit initiative, aimed at strengthening the party’s presence and ensuring effective mobilisation at the polling-unit level.
The stakeholders concluded the meeting with a renewed commitment to unity, loyalty and collective mobilisation, expressing confidence in the ADC’s prospects in the 2027 general elections.
They maintained that no level of intimidation or political propaganda would distract them from their determination to secure victory for IDRUFEM and other ADC candidates across the constituency.
