2027 ELECTION: A CONGLOMERATION OF ALL POLITICAL PARTY CRIMINALS AGAINST THE NIGERIAN PEOPLE
The Obidient Movement has expressed deep concern over what it describes as the “alarming wave of political defections”by governors, former lawmakers, and career politicians from opposition parties to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a strongly worded statement signed by its North Central Spokesperson, Comrade Emmanuel Idakwo, the movement said the ongoing exodus is not driven by ideology or patriotism but by “desperation for protection and political survival.”
“What we are witnessing is not the strengthening of democracy but the gathering of all political criminals under one umbrella,” Idakwo said. “They are united not by vision or values, but by fear of accountability and the Nigerian people.”
The group alleged that the APC has become a refuge for politicians with questionable records, recalling former APC Chairman Adams Oshiomhole’s controversial remark that “once you join the APC, all your sins are forgiven.”
According to the statement, this mentality has now become the unwritten code of conduct for the ruling party, where corruption and impunity are rewarded with political sanctuary.
2027: The People vs. the Political Class
The Obidient Movement described the current political realignments as a *“grand preparation for 2027,”* which it said will not be a contest between APC, PDP, or LP, but between “the corrupt political establishment and the Nigerian people.”
“This is no longer APC versus PDP or Labour Party,” the statement continued. “It is the entire corrupt elite versus the citizens who have been marginalized, oppressed, and deceived for decades.”
Call to Action
Despite the grim outlook, the movement urged Nigerians not to lose hope, emphasizing that the unfolding scenario provides clarity about where each political actor stands.
“Now we know who they are — united in corruption, impunity, and the looting of our collective future,” Idakwo noted. “But the people must also unite — not in fear, but in courage; not in silence, but in organized resistance.”
Reaffirming the principle that “power belongs to the people,”the movement called for renewed civic participation, vigilance at polling units, and a collective resolve to frustrate electoral malpractice.
“No matter how many governors defect or how many political criminals switch parties, they still need your vote to stay in power,” the statement read. “We must educate, organize, and protect our votes to reclaim our nation.”
The movement reiterated that a New Nigeria remains possible through lawful and peaceful struggle, under the campaign slogan #GoMERD — Get Organised, Mobilised, Educated, Ready, and Determined.
“Let the political criminals gather,” Idakwo concluded. “The people are awakening. 2027 is coming — and this time, the people will decide.”
