2027: Group Explains Why Tinubu Will Win in South East, Lauds Umahi’s Achievements

The Ndigbo For Tinubu 2027 Forum (NDI – ABAT), a coalition of pro – Tinubu Igbo organizations has explained that the infrastructural achievements of the Minister of Works David Umahi in the south east zone have become a campaign bolster for the victory of President Tinubu in the south east zone.
The group further described Umahi as one of the genuine allies within the APC and the Presidency who are working tirelessly to ensure Tinubu’s success in the 2027 re – election bid.
In a statement issued by the National Coordinator of NDI-BAT, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzuro and his Secretary General, Dr Ugwuoke Ugwuoke, the group noted that the reopening of the ENUGU – ONITSHA EXPRESSWAY by the Federal Government through the Ministry of Works on Tuesday, 31st March 2026, stands as a significant milestone.
According to the statement: “In the Southeast region, Senator Dave Umahi stands out as the number one person working to make President Tinubu’s government a success. NDI – ABAT observes that Senator Umahi’s top priority is the electoral success of President Tinubu in the Southeast in the 2027 Presidential elections. Without Senator Dave Umahi standing firmly for Tinubu, with verifiable and completed Federal Road Construction projects across the Southeast, it will be an uphill battle to convince the people of the Southeast to vote for the APC and President Tinubu in 2027”.
“The Igbo people recognize and deeply appreciate this as one of the key electoral promises made by President Tinubu in 2023 and successfully fulfilled in 2026”.
“It is a well – known fact that the last major reconstruction work on the ENUGU – ONITSHA EXPRESSWAY, using asphalt, took place in 1996, during the regime of the late Military Head of State, General Sani Abacha, through his PETROLEUM TRUST FUNDS (PTF).
“Since then, the expressway was callously abandoned and allowed to deteriorate, from 1996 until 2023. It was only when President Bola Ahmed Tinubu took office that steps were taken to address the infrastructural disaster and decay plaguing all major Federal Government roads in the Southeast region”.
The Coalition group added that President Tinubu Hhas truly wiped away the tears of many Nigerians, especially the Ndigbo, who have endured unjustly for 30 years due to tragic accidents, severe economic losses, and the loss of human lives associated with the collapse of this vital expressway.
“NDI – ABAT categorically asserts that without the necessary approvals and resources provided by President Tinubu to the Minister of Works, Senator Dave Umahi, to tackle the issues of dilapidated roads in the country, particularly in the Southeast region, the people of the Southeast would have no reason to believe that the Federal Government is addressing the long – standing grievances of Ndigbo”.
“Thanks to Senator Umahi’s superlative performances across the country, especially in the Southeast region as the Minister of Works, it is evident that President Tinubu will be able to defeat the opposition coalition leaders, namely Mr Peter Obi, Atiku Abubakar, and Rabiu Kwankwaso, in the Southeast region in the 2027 elections”, the body said.
NDI – ABAT emphasized that the Southeast region not only needs more completed federal highway projects but also requires the speedy completion of the Superhighways, specifically the CALABAR – ABAKILIKI – BENUE – KOGI – ABUJA SUPERHIGHWAY and the MAKUDI – NSUKKA – 9TH MILE – ENUGU SUPERHIGHWAY.
