2027 Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu: former Speaker Matthew Kolawole Declares Intention
The Immediate Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Matthew Kolawole on Tuesday declared officially his intension to run for the Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency seat in the 2027 General Elections.
Prince Kolawole amidst a mammoth crowd of supporters, says his desire remains the improvement of the well-being of his people and to deliver President Ahmed Bola Tinubu and Gov Usman Ahmed Ododo for a second term.
Kolawole, a stalwart of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) disclosed his intension during the Official Declaration Programme in Kabba, headquarters of Kogi West Senatorial District.
He said that the need for quality representation informed his decision to join the race adding that he had to throw his hat into the ring to enable him bring his wealth of experience to bear in the service of his constituents at higher level. He averred that he has garnered a lot of experience over the years as a two-term legislator; serving as Speaker of the State Assembly for seven years.
“First of all, I did not lose at the last 2023 election, rather, I was short changed by some forces.
”The election was declared inconclusive along that of Dekina/Bassa Federal Constituency. While we were preparing for the supplementary election, another candidate was declared winner.
”By law, such declaration must be made within seven days, but ours was made ten days later; because of some vested interest.
”My intention now is to contest for the Federal House of Representatives seat to represent the good people of Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Constituency under APC come 2027. I spent eight years providing skills acquisition for my constituents with several Empowerment Initiatives.
He said if given the mandate to represent the Federal Constituency, he will use the position to do more and advance his efforts to affect lives of the down trodden.
“While in the State House of Assembly, I have used my office to facilitate employment, I facilitated projects to the Constituency, provided boreholes, youth Empowerment, rural electrification, skill acquisition and so on”, he said The Speaker commended the party members across the 30 Wards in the federal constituency who graced the occasion, urging them to continue to support the party for its overall success in the area come 2027.
He also urged them to support the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for president and Ahmed Usman Ododo for Kogi governor.
He said that Ododo possesses all the requisite knowledge and all it would take to lead the state to its promised land.
