2027: Kogi East Decide as Erico Champions People-Driven Leadership

By Edison Atumeyi Edime
Political Activist & Youth Advocate

The political landscape in Kogi East is witnessing renewed mobilisation as supporters of Dr. Joseph Ameh Erico rally under the slogan, “One Man, One Voice, One Choice — Erico!”

The campaign, tagged “Kogi East Decide,” is being presented as a grassroots movement aimed at encouraging citizens to rise above political sentiments, propaganda, intimidation and personal interests in determining the leadership direction of the senatorial district.

According to the statement issued by political activist and youth advocate, Edison Atumeyi Edime, Erico represents what he described as “a new political consciousness” driven by grassroots participation and anchored on equity, justice, accountability, transparency, inclusion and purposeful leadership.

Edime said Erico was not the candidate of a few individuals but “the man of the people,” stressing that his support base was expanding across communities, wards and polling units.

He noted that youths and women were increasingly becoming active in the mobilisation, while community-level engagement was being intensified to build what he described as a formidable political structure ahead of the elections.

“This is no longer politics of whispers. This is politics of numbers. This is politics of mobilisation. This is politics of grassroots engagement. This is politics of people-driven leadership,” the statement declared.

The statement said the Kogi East Decide movement was being strengthened through ward mobilisation, polling-unit coordination, community engagement, political sensitisation, strategic outreach and direct people-to-people contact.

Edime maintained that the central message of the movement was that “Kogi East has decided,” arguing that the democratic will of the people should remain the foundation for choosing political leadership.

He further listed inclusive governance, effective representation, youth participation, women empowerment, economic opportunities, human capital development, infrastructure and accountability among the principles Erico reportedly represents.

According to him, the movement seeks to promote a political system in which ordinary citizens have a voice in governance and where leadership is responsive to the needs of the grassroots.

“The people are ready. The grassroots are activated. The movement is gathering momentum. The political consciousness is rising,” Edime said.

He therefore called on supporters and citizens across Kogi East to remain committed to the movement, reiterating the slogan:

“ONE MAN!
ONE VOICE!
ONE CHOICE!
KOGI EAST DECIDE — ERICO!”

He concluded that the movement was ultimately about allowing the people to decide, lead and determine their political future through democratic participation.
