2027: Odii Won’t Withdraw Ebonyi Guber Ambition, Says Spokesman
Onyeka Nnabu
The Ebonyi State Governorship Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii said he would not step down for anyone or even to withdraw from the Governorship race.
In a statement issued by his spokesman, Chief Emmanuel Igwe, the governorship candidate stressed he would never, under any condition, step down from the 2027 governorship contest.
According to Odii: “we wish to state categorically that Chief Dr Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii will never, under any condition, step down from the 2027 governorship contest. Any publication suggesting otherwise is false and does not represent the position of Chief Odii”.
“Chief Odii remains committed to the 2027 governorship contest. His position, as communicated by his political camp, is clear: he will run and seek the mandate of the people of Ebonyi State through the democratic process”.
“No political discussion, persuasion or negotiation by any individual can be presented as a decision by Chief Odii to abandon his ambition”.
He challenged those responsible for such claims to produce the evidence upon which they based their assertion, adding that no statement exists from Chief Odii announcing a withdrawal and the public should not be misled into believing that such a decision has been made.
“There is a fundamental difference between reporting that a politician intends to persuade Chief Odii to withdraw and reporting that Chief Odii has agreed to withdraw”.
“The first is an expression of another person’s intention. The second is a claim about Chief Odii’s decision and requires evidence”.
“The media has a responsibility to inform the public accurately and should not manufacture political decisions on behalf of candidates”, Odii said.
He further called on Ebonyi people to remain committed and disregard the report as handiwork of mischief makers, who were afraid of rising popularity of PDP in the state.
