A Fitting Tribute: Renaming Kogi State University Kabba after Alh Yahaya Adoza Bello

By Abah Benjamin Eneojoh
January 2, 2025

Lokoja, Kogi State

As the world watches, Kogi State is poised to make a bold statement in honor of its immediate past Governor, Alh Yahaya Adoza Bello. His exemplary commitment to advancing education in the state makes a compelling case for renaming Kogi State University Kabba after him. This gesture would not only be a proven testimonial to his transformative leadership but also a celebration of his vision for a better-educated Kogi State.

*A Legacy of Educational Excellence*

During his tenure, Former Governor Bello demonstrated an unwavering dedication to education, leaving an indelible mark on the state’s educational landscape. Some of his notable achievements include:

– *Establishing Confluence University of Science and Technology Osara*: A hub for scientific innovation and discovery.

– *Creating Kogi State University Kabba*: A beacon of hope for the people of Okunland and Kogi West.
– *Upgrading the Medical School in Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba*: Enhancing the state’s healthcare capabilities.

– *Constructing Model Science Schools Across the 3 Senatorial Districts*: Fostering a culture of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education.

These accomplishments have not only improved access to quality education but also inspired a new generation of leaders and change-makers.

The outpouring of love and admiration for former Governor Bello during his reception in Okene, Kogi State on January 1, 2025, is an indication of his enduring popularity and the impact of his policies on the people. His legacy extends far beyond his tenure as Governor.

*A Call to Action*

In recognition of Governor Bello’s remarkable contributions to education, we urge the Kogi State House of Assembly to take immediate action and rename Kogi State University Kabba in his honor. This gesture would not only be a fitting tribute but also a celebration of his commitment to the advancement of education in Kogi State.

Let this be the first Bill the Executive Governor, His Excellency Alh Ahmed Usman Ododo will assent to in January 2025, setting the tone for a year of progress and development in Kogi State. We believe that Governor Bello deserves this honor and gesture, and we look forward to seeing his legacy continue to inspire generations to come.
