A Moment of Honor and Celebration at Iyin Day in Ekiti state

Iyin Ekiti was a hub of joy and celebration as the 2025 Iyin Day took place at the esteemed Oluyin Palace.
This annual event was distinguished by the conferment of prestigious traditional titles to notable figures, recognizing their significant contributions to the community and Nigeria as a whole..
Among those honored were Deputy Senate President Senator Jubril Barau, who received the title of Agbaakin of Iyin Ekiti, and Senate Leader Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, who was awarded the title of Oluomo of Iyin.
The ceremonial titles were conferred by the Oluyin-in-Council and reflect the rich cultural heritage and communal spirit of the Iyin Ekiti kingdom.
Muhammed Abacha, an industrialist and friend of the community, was present to express his heartfelt congratulations to the newly titled senators. Also honored during the ceremony were Senator Jide Iponshagba, Chair of the Senate Committee on Public Procurement, who was named Are Bobagunwa of Iyin Ekiti;
Hon. Engr. Remi Oseni, Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on FERMA, awarded the title of Aare Bobajiroro of Iyin Ekiti; and Otunba Niyi Adebayo, former Governor of Ekiti State, recognized as Asiwaju of Iyin Ekiti.
During the event, Senator Bamidele shared his heartfelt gratitude to the Oluyin, the council, and the people of Iyin Ekiti. He noted that this was his first traditional title amidst over three decades of dedicated public service.
“I dedicate this honor to God and I pledge to continue serving my community and humanity with unwavering commitment,” he stated, acknowledging the profound significance of the honor bestowed upon him.
Senator Jubril Barau, in his remarks, highlighted the critical importance of preserving and promoting cultural values.
“When we celebrate who we are, we strengthen the bonds of unity and harmony among our people,” he emphasized.
As a visitor from Kano, Barau expressed delight in being part of such a vibrant traditional gathering, showcasing the beautiful diversity that characterizes Nigeria.
He congratulated the revered monarch, HRM Oba Adeola Adeniyi Ajakaye, for his exemplary leadership, emphasizing that his reign symbolizes peace, progress, and inclusiveness in the community.
Meanwhile, Muhammed Abacha took the opportunity to offer prayers for the long reign, sound health, and peace of mind for HRM Oba Adeola Adeniyi Ajakaye, emphasizing the importance of unity and collaboration in fostering a prosperous future for the community.
