JIGAWA:-The All Progressives Congress (APC) has emerged victorious in the recently concluded Local Government council elections in Jigawa State, securing all 27 chairmanship positions and winning 281 out of the 287 councillorship seats contested.

Democracy Newsline Newspaper reported that Notably, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) claimed a councillorship seat in Margadu Ward of Guri Local Government, while Accord Party secured four councillorship positions in Aujara Ward (Taura Local Government), Kanwa Ward (Jahun Local Government), Maiaduwa Ward (Gagarawa Local Government), and Guntusu Ward (Gwaiwa Local Government).

The results were officially declared at local government headquarters and political ward collation centers across the state’s 27 local governments. However, the councillorship seat for Dubantu Ward in Hadejia Local Government was not declared due to disputes over the collation of results and the destruction of ballot boxes.

Hon. Auwalu Muhammad Harbo, the Executive Chairman of the Jigawa State Independent Electoral Commission (JISEC), has since issued Certificates of Return to the victorious chairmanship candidates.
