A Public Appeal to Gov Ododo to Consider the Recall of 2010/2011 Local Government Workers

A passionate public appeal has gone out to the Executive Governor of Kogi State: His Excellency, Alh Ahmed Usman Ododo to look into the case of unjustly laid off Local Government staff across the 21 LGAs of the state.

This was contained in a statement signed by Jerome Mathew Adedayo and Mrs. Aiyedoju Comfort on behalf of the affected group of staff in Kabba/Bunu LGA on 18th January, 2026,

The group while praising the Alh Ahmed Usman Ododo administration for its commitment to the welfare of the citizens, particularly, the civil servants, lamented the seeming silence of successive administrations in the state, the NLC and the NULGE over their plight.

The group recalled that the Kogi State government during the administration of Capt. Idris Ichala Wada, sometimes in 2014 abruptly stopped the payment of their salary over claims of dwindling Federal Allocation to the state.

Many appeals for the reversal of the policy action fell on deaf ears. The group stressed that it was assured by the Capt. Idris Wada led administration that they would be reabsorbed when things improve.

The refusal of the government then to listen to the voice of reason led to the unpopularity of the administration with the people at the grassroots, hence the protest vote that dashed the reelection bid of the Wada government which eventually ousted the administration.

The group is appealing to His Excellency, Alh Ahmed Usman Ododo to consider their plight and that of their immediate and extended family members as they have been thrown into hunger and starvation since 2014.

They noted that many of their members, while trying to make ends meet, have lost their live in the process, some have lost faith in the state and left in search of a better life while others kept to their faith that justice would be served one day.

The group appeal to the listening and performing government of Alh Ahmed Usman Ododo to visit their case with a view to reabsorbing them back into the Local Government service and urge all affected members of staff to be calm as they believe that God will use the Ododo administration to restore their wasted years and lost hope.
