Today, Ijumu Local Government celebrates one year of visionary governance and purposeful stewardship under the dynamic leadership of Alhaji Ibrahim Haruna, the Executive Chairman. His emergence ushered in a new era of direction, discipline, and development that has redefined the ideals of leadership at the grassroots level.
In just twelve months, the administration has written a compelling story of transformation across critical sectors of governance including security, infrastructure, agriculture, education, welfare, and institutional collaboration, all anchored on transparency, accountability, and a genuine desire to serve.
From the onset, Alhaji Ibrahim Haruna placed security at the center of his administration’s agenda. What was once a recurring concern became a coordinated mission pursued with determination and tact. Through strengthened synergy with security agencies, enhanced welfare and logistics support, and deliberate community involvement, the administration has successfully curtailed criminal activities to the barest minimum. Today, Ijumu stands as one of the most peaceful local governments in Kogi State; a reflection of leadership that acts decisively and responds swiftly.
In the realm of infrastructure, the administration has displayed remarkable foresight. Working through the local council and strategic partnerships, it has continued to open new frontiers of development. The ongoing modern produce market along Kabba–Iyara Road, the construction and rehabilitation of primary healthcare centres, and other targeted community projects collectively reflect an administration that builds with purpose and delivers with integrity.
Agriculture, the heartbeat of Ijumu’s economy, has received a significant boost. The once persistent menace of farm insecurity that crippled productivity has been substantially addressed. Farmers now work with renewed confidence as the administration has fortified rural security and reestablished farm access. Through effective collaboration with agricultural bodies such as ACReSAL, local farmers now benefit from financing, inputs, and improved seedlings, leading to increased food production and rural empowerment.
In the education sector, Alhaji Ibrahim Haruna has demonstrated strong belief in the transformative power of knowledge. His administration has initiated educational support programs and provided assistance to indigent students. These interventions have strengthened enrollment and retention rates while rekindling hope among parents and guardians that education remains the cornerstone of a brighter future.
The welfare of the people has also remained a central pillar of this administration. From consistent support to the elderly, to the distribution of food and clothing items, and the institutional recognition of elder statesmen across the fifteen wards through monthly stipends, Alhaji Ibrahim Haruna has exemplified compassionate governance. His administration has delivered measurable progress, restored public confidence, and renewed hope in the possibilities of local governance.
