The ancient community of Abejukolo in Ogbonicha District, Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State, has been thrown into mourning following the passing of one of its most respected sons, Elder Elijah Yusuf Agada, who died at the age of 66.

Renowned for his unwavering commitment to community development, peace, and unity, the late Elder Elijah was widely celebrated as a selfless leader whose life was dedicated to the progress of Abejukolo and the well-being of its people. Family members, friends, associates, and indigenes of Abejukolo have continued to pay glowing tributes, describing him as a humble elder statesman, a dependable adviser, and a bridge-builder whose influence transcended family and social boundaries. Many recalled his tireless efforts at promoting harmony, encouraging communal cooperation, and championing initiatives that advanced the development of his hometown.

Leading the tributes, the Chairman of the Abejukolo Development Association (ADA), Rev. Abah Wisdom Omale, described the late Elder Agada as an unmistakable leader whose passion for the growth of Abejukolo remained unwavering until his final days.
“I write this to once again commiserate with the Agada family and indeed the entire community of Abejukolo on the departure of our elder brother, Elder Elijah Yusuf Agada. As we all know and can testify, he was an unmistakable leader in the community. The love and development of Abejukolo were central in his heart, and he was a unifier par excellence,” Rev. Omale stated.

According to the burial programme released by the family, a Service of Songs will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at the United Evangelical Church, No. 34 Challawa Crescent, Kaduna. His remains will depart St. Gerard Catholic Hospital, Kakuri, Kaduna, on Thursday, July 16, 2026, for his hometown, Abejukolo.
The lying-in-state and final interment are scheduled for Friday, July 17, 2026, at his residence in Abejukolo-Ogbonicha, Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State.

Elder Elijah Yusuf Agada is survived by his wife, children, siblings, and numerous relatives.

As Abejukolo prepares to bid farewell to one of its finest sons, many residents say his legacy of service, integrity, compassion, and unwavering dedication to community development and godly work will continue to inspire generations.

Though he has departed this world, his contributions to the unity and advancement of Abejukolo remain etched in the hearts of those who knew him.
May the soul of Elder Elijah Yusuf Agada rest in perfect peace. Amen.
