The Ado Bayero family has clarified that the relocation of the wedding venue of their daughter, Maryam Nasir Ado Bayero, to Jibrin (Abba) Barau I Jibrin, son of the Deputy President of the Senate, has no connection to the ongoing discourse surrounding the tax reform bills.
In a statement signed by the Chairman of the organizing committee for the bride’s family, Alhaji Aminu Babba Dan Agundi, the family debunked claims that the change of venue from Kano to Abuja was influenced by political tensions.
Alhaji Aminu Babba Dan Agundi emphasized that the decision was entirely a family matter. “The choice of the wedding venue is traditionally the prerogative of the bride’s family. The relocation of the event to Abuja was made solely for the convenience of the personalities, both from within and outside Nigeria, who have expressed interest in attending,” he stated.
The wedding, scheduled for Friday, December 13, 2024, was moved weeks ago after thorough consultations within the family. The change was made to ensure broader accessibility and to accommodate guests more conveniently.
The family urged individuals and groups to refrain from attributing unfounded reasons to the relocation. They reiterated that the move was in no way connected to the tax reform bills or any other external influence.
