AE-FUNAI’s HOU bags Great GIMSUGA benefactor Award in Ebonyi
The Head of Unit, Directorate of Community and Extension Services of Alex Ekwurme Federal University, Ndufu Alike, Ebonyi State, Dr. Janerita Peters was at the weekend honoured with an Award by Global IMSU Graduates Alumni, GIMSUGA in the State.
Dr. Peters was honoured with Great GIMSUGA Benefactor Award, for her laudable and enviable contributions to the growth and development of the GIMSUGA in Ebonyi State and at the National level.
Presenting the Award, the Global President of the Association, Dr. Anayo Uhiara noted that Dr. Janerita Peters has been a committed member of the Alumni and that the Award was a way of recognising the efforts and contributions of the recipient.

Addressing newsmen after receiving the Award, Dr. Peters who dedicated the Award to her late mother, Mrs. Chidiebere Samuel, noted that the Award will spur her to do more for the Association.
The recipient, who is also the Global Treasurer of GIMSUGA, thanked all those who came from far and near to support and give her solidarity in the course of the event.
She appreciated her husband, Mr. Peter Okutu, a Media Guru, for his encouragements, moral support and financial assistance to GIMSUGA even as she pledged never to let him down, considering his contributions to her intellectual development, academic attainment and societal accomplishments.
Dr. Peters, who is the Chief Executive Officer, CEO, of Dr. Janerita Peters Foundation, DJPF, promised not to let GIMSUGA down as her contribution to the growth of the Association will remain consistent.
The Award ceremony took place at the International Conference Centre, Abakaliki, during the Association’s Annual Global Convention in the State.
The theme of this year’s Convention: “The Role of Alumni Associations in Promoting Social Changes: Attributes, Practices and Impacts” was disected in a Lecture delivered by the Keynote Speaker, Prof. Samuel Ezeanyika.
In her address, the Chairman of the Convention Central Planning Committee, Dr. Prisca Bob, who welcomed the members of GIMSUGA to the Convention noted that the Association will keep forging ahead against all odds.
Other Awards in different categories, including Excellent Professional Services Award, Corporate Service Award, Distinguished Lifetime Achiever Merit Award, Outstanding Community Service Award, Distinguished Imo Star Merit Award, Grand Ambassador of GIMSUGA and GIMSUGA Ambassadorial Award were equally given out to distinguished individuals in the Society.
Highlights of the event was the distribution of customised gifts to the first 30 members of GIMSUGA that registered for the 2024
Annual Global Convention by Dr. Janerita Peters Foundation, DJPF, and a cultural dance by Ebonyi Cultural Troupe.
