Akpabio -Natasha imbroglio: North Central PDP Women affirmed their unflinching support for Senator Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan.
PDP Women across North Central Nigeria condemned in it’s entirety the undue harassment, sexualisation, intimidation and incessant denial of rights and privileges of one of our own, Distinguished Senator Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan by the Senate president Godswill Akpabio.
This is unbecoming of a senate president, Senator Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan contested and won her party’s (PDP) primaries where she bore the flag of the party in the general elections and won.
she never cut corners to arrive at her present position as a senator. In Nigeria where women participation in politics is abysmally low, instead of encouraging the few ones who stand as beacons of hope for our girl child, their voices are being stifle by some national bullies and freeloaders who became senators through the back door.
The position of the Senate President is a first among equals, which means they were equal first.
We express our unflinching support and stand with our distinguish Senator Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan who is a committed voice for the women and who has demonstrated quality representation both in the Senate and in her constituency.
As women, we are proud of Senator Natasha’s representation for good governance and voice for millions of Nigerian women. We will not fold our arms and watch in the face of harassment, intimidation, denial of rights and privileges meted to her in the red chamber of the National Assembly by the Senate president, Godswill Akpabio.
In view of the foregoing; we demand that Senator Natasha’s rights and privileges be respected, the harassment and sexualisation allegations be probed while the senate president step down to allow neutrality on the matter.
Signed:
Hon. Esther A Soje, PDP women’s leader, Kogi state.
Hon. Dr Sa’adatu Kolo, PDP women’s leader, Niger state.
