APC ACTIVE YOUTHS FORUM KOGI STATE CHAPTER THROWS WEIGHT BEHIND SENATOR SUNDAY STEVE KARIMI, CALLS FOR UNITY AND RESPECT FOR DUE PROCESS
The APC Active Youths Forum, Kogi State Chapter, has reaffirmed its political support for Senator Sunday Steve Karimi amid the ongoing legal disagreement surrounding the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial ticket for Kogi West ahead of the 2027 general election.
The Forum’s position comes against the backdrop of the recent Federal High Court judgment in the case involving Senator Karimi and Hon. Samuel Bamidele Aro, a development that has generated considerable political discussions among APC members, stakeholders and supporters across Kogi West Senatorial District.
While acknowledging the significance of the court’s decision and the constitutional right of every party to seek judicial redress, the Forum maintains its position in support of Senator Karimi, whose emergence from the May 18, 2026 APC primary remains central to the political disagreement.
The Forum recognises that the judicial process is an essential component of democratic governance and that every interested party is entitled to pursue available legal remedies. It therefore considers it important that the matter be approached with maturity, restraint and respect for the institutions responsible for resolving electoral disputes.
The Forum believes that political disagreements should not become instruments of hostility, personal attacks or permanent division within the APC family.
Kogi West is made up of diverse political interests across Kabba/Bunu, Ijumu, Yagba East, Yagba West, Mopamuro, Lokoja and Kogi Local Government Areas. Maintaining cooperation among these political interests remains an important consideration for the party.
The Forum also recognises the contributions of political leaders, elected representatives, party faithful and grassroots stakeholders in the development of the district. Differences over political contests should not erase existing relationships or undermine the collective interest of the party.
As a youth-oriented political organisation, the APC Active Youths Forum believes that young people have an important role to play in strengthening democratic institutions, promoting political awareness and encouraging responsible participation in governance.
The current development provides an opportunity for young party members to demonstrate political maturity by prioritising verified information, peaceful engagement and respect for the rule of law.
The Forum therefore encourages its members and other stakeholders to avoid spreading unverified information or engaging in inflammatory exchanges capable of worsening the situation.
The Forum considers continued dialogue, respect for judicial decisions and constructive engagement among party stakeholders essential to maintaining internal cohesion.
It also believes that the APC’s long-term political interests in Kogi West should remain an important consideration as the legal and political processes unfold.
The disagreement surrounding the senatorial ticket should be handled through the appropriate institutional channels, without unnecessary hostility among supporters of the individuals involved.
The APC Active Youths Forum, Kogi State Chapter, consequently reiterates its support for Senator Sunday Steve Karimi while emphasising the importance of peace, democratic values, respect for due process and the preservation of party unity.
The strength of a political party is not measured only by its ability to compete during elections, but also by its capacity to manage disagreements, respect institutions and maintain unity among its members.
