Leaders and stakeholders of the Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ethiope Federal Constituency on Thursday staged a massive show of solidarity for the member representing Ethiope Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, as they unanimously endorsed her and other party candidates as consensus choices ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The colourful political gathering, held at the historic Oghara Township Stadium, attracted thousands of party faithful, women groups, youth organizations, ward executives, community leaders, and political stakeholders from across Ethiope East and Ethiope West Local Government Areas.
The endorsement rally was widely seen by political observers as a strategic consolidation of the APC structure within the constituency, especially following the recent political realignments that have continued to shape the political landscape in Delta State.
Addressing the mammoth crowd amid chants and cheers from supporters, Rt. Hon. Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu formally declared her intention to seek re-election to the Green Chamber of the National Assembly, stating that her decision was driven by the need to sustain ongoing developmental projects, empowerment initiatives, and people-oriented representation already being witnessed across the constituency.
The federal lawmaker expressed profound appreciation to the Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori, APC leaders, stakeholders, and constituents for their unwavering support, confidence, and encouragement.
According to her, the overwhelming endorsement from party stakeholders was not only a call to greater service but also a demonstration of unity and collective determination to strengthen the APC ahead of future electoral contests.
She assured party faithful that if re-elected, she would continue to prioritize youth empowerment, women inclusion, infrastructural development, educational support programmes, healthcare interventions, and constituency engagement.
Political heavyweight and respected APC chieftain, Ighoyota Amori, while speaking at the event, declared that the APC remained united, formidable, and focused within Ethiope Federal Constituency.
Amori stated that all candidates of the party — from the Presidency to the National Assembly and State House of Assembly levels — currently enjoy massive grassroots support from party members and stakeholders throughout the constituency.
He dismissed insinuations of internal wrangling within the party structure, insisting that the APC in Ethiope Federal Constituency had resolved to work together in unity and harmony for the overall success of the party.
According to him, the era of division and fragmentation within the political family was over, adding that the leadership of the party remained committed to strengthening internal democracy, rewarding loyalty, and ensuring collective progress.
Several notable APC leaders who spoke during the event also echoed similar sentiments, calling on party members to remain steadfast, united, and supportive of the party leadership.
Among those who delivered goodwill messages were Arthur Akpowowo, Hon. Sunday Onoriode, Chief Paulinus Akpeki, Chief Bernard Edewor, Chief Anthony Akpomiemie, and Chief John Nani.
The leaders commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for sustaining peace and political stability across Delta State, noting that the prevailing atmosphere of cooperation among party stakeholders would further strengthen the APC’s electoral fortunes in future elections.
Other prominent APC figures sighted at the well-attended rally included Dr. Wilson Omene, Chief Rolands Igbakpa, Chief Halims Agoda, Chief Williams Makinde, Pastor Godwin Akpovie, Chris Onogba, and Augustine Ogedegbe, alongside numerous supporters and delegates from various wards and communities.
The atmosphere at the stadium reflected a carnival-like celebration, with supporters waving party flags, banners, and placards bearing inscriptions in support of Rt. Hon. Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu and the APC.
Political analysts believe the endorsement may significantly boost the political standing of the lawmaker, who is the daughter of former Delta State Governor, James Ibori, and has continued to maintain considerable influence and support across the constituency.
Observers also note that the development could further consolidate APC’s growing political structure in Delta Central Senatorial District as political activities gradually gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Many stakeholders at the rally described the endorsement as a vote of confidence in the performance, accessibility, and leadership style of Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, insisting that continuity in representation would enable ongoing projects and empowerment programmes to mature for the benefit of constituents.
The event eventually climaxed with prayers for peace, unity, and continued progress within the APC and Delta State at large, as party faithful pledged total support for the party’s leadership and future electoral victories.
