APC Kogi West Campaign Council meets Okun traditional ruler to seeks support for the party
APC Kogi West Campaign Council has met with the Okun Area Traditional Council at the Palace of the Obaro of Kabba and Chairman of the council in Kabba yesterday to seek for their prayers, support and also to make them see reasons why they should rally round the governorship candidate of the party in the forthcoming Governorship election in the State.
The campaign council which was led by its Director General, Hon Funsho Olumoko said it has become imperative for them to meet with the royal fathers in order to explain in detail why they have decided to go with the Governorship candidate of the governing party.
He said they have come as a group to appeal to them to talk to the people as their voice is very important at this critical stage, pointing out that with the look of things, the opposition parties that have the Okun sons as it’s candidates may not be able to galvanize the needed spread to win the election hence there is no need for the Okun people to waste it’s votes.
He noted that it is better to go with the governing party that is at the national level, adding that it will be easier for Okun to get the governorship through the process, and assured them that Okun will produce the governor of the State soon.
Hon Wemi Jones, Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, emphasized the importance of the university established in Kabba, the headquarters of the zone, and pointed out that the kind of work going at the site of the institution is no child-play that the people Okunland should toil with.
He said N2 billion naira has since being released for the university as massive works are ongoing preparing them to have its first set of students, adding that in a few years when Governor Yahaya Bello is long gone, the effects of the institution on the economic activities of not only the host community but the entire zone will be monumental.
He urged the traditional rulers to look towards their direction to secure victory for the APC in the November 11 Governorship election in the area, pointing out that they want the area to come to the table with overwhelming votes.
While reacting the royal fathers commended their efforts at which they are working for their party to win, appealed to them to continue to work together for the benefits of the people of Okunland.
They said it is just enough to asked for votes, pointed out that they need them more during registration, as wining any elections starts from the registration process, added that it is only the number of registered voters you have that can vote.
They promised to do whatever is expected of them to move their various communities forward, prayed that God will do the best for them.
