Kogi State Governor, His Excellency Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo,
Wednesday January 15, 2025 attended the Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration, laying wreaths at the World War I and II Cenotaph in Lokoja.

This ceremony honors the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who have lost their lives in various military conflicts, including World War I and II, the Nigerian Civil War, and peacekeeping operations

While delivering His speech, Governor Ododo expressed his administration’s commitment to supporting the military and families of fallen heroes reaffirming his administration’s commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of all citizens and residents in the state.

In his words “As we honour our Galant Men who protected the Sovereignty of Nigeria, who gave their lives off so that we can have our peace in the land of the living.
We remember you and we pray that the Almighty Allah forgives your shortcomings.

We celebrate them for what they stood for, they stood for peace, unity and hope.
I pledge my continued support to the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and we stand to support the wives and children of our Fallen Heroes in the provision of Free Healthcare through the Kogi State Health Insurance Scheme ” he said.

He emphasized that the security and logistical support of the military remain a top priority, underscoring the importance of collaboration between the government and the armed forces to maintain peace and stability in the Country.

The event is a significant tradition in Nigeria, typically marked on January 15th every year. It commemorates the end of the Nigerian Civil War, which ceased on January 15, 1970. During the ceremony, Governor Ododo paid his respects to the fallen soldiers, acknowledging their bravery and selflessness.

He commended the exceptional quality of President of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu in prioritising the Peace and Unity of our dear Nation.

He finally urged Nigerians to unite in their collective resolve in order to sustain the peace gained by the current administration in the country.
