Asiwaju Olatunji Olusoji Urges Okun People to Back Ododo’s Second-Term Bid

Renowned philanthropist and community leader, Asiwaju Prince Olatunji Olusoji, has urged the people of Okunland to rally behind the second-term ambition of Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Usman Ododo, stressing the need for unity and strategic political engagement to advance the interests of the people.
Olusoji, who is the Chairman/CEO of Goveronos Group of Companies, made the call while addressing participants at the 2026 Okun Unity Dialogue, organised by the Okun Development Initiative (ODI) at the Conference Centre of the Armed Forces Officers’ Mess and Suites, Asokoro, Abuja.

The well-attended event brought together prominent Okun sons and daughters, traditional rulers, political leaders, community stakeholders, professionals and other notable personalities to deliberate on issues concerning the unity, development and political future of Okunland.
The occasion was graced by first-class traditional rulers, led by HRM Oba Solomon Owoniyi, the Obaro of Kabba and Chairman, Okun Area Traditional Council.
Addressing the gathering, Asiwaju Olusoji called on Okun people to put the collective interest of the region above personal and political differences, urging them to close ranks and support leadership that would promote development and enhance the political relevance of the people.
He maintained that unity remained critical to the ability of Okun people to negotiate effectively and secure greater opportunities within the political structure of Kogi State.
He charged the people to eradicate the spirit of envy and infighting among political leaders and stakeholders, stressing that a house divided against itself cannot stand.
According to him, Okun stakeholders must remain united and strategically positioned ahead of the 2027 general elections, stressing that the people should work together in the interest of peace, development and the future of the region.
He therefore urged them to unite and work together in pursuit of a common cause.
One of the major highlights of the event was the presentation of Awards to distinguished personalities who have contributed significantly to humanity and community development.
Among the award recipients was Asiwaju Prince Olatunji Olusoji, who was honoured with Humanitarian Award for his philanthropic activities, community service and contributions to the welfare of the people.
Other prominent recipients included Senator Dino Melaye, Hon. Tajudeen Ayo Yusuf, Commander Jerry Omodara (Rtd.), and HRM Oba Solomon Owoniyi, the Obaro of Kabba, among others.
The recognition, according to the organisers, was designed to celebrate individuals whose contributions to society have made meaningful impact in the lives of others and in the development of their communities.
Receiving his award, Asiwaju Olusoji expressed appreciation to the organisers for the recognition, describing it as an encouragement to continue supporting humanity and contributing to community development.
He stressed that philanthropy should not be viewed merely as giving material assistance, but as a responsibility to create opportunities, empower people and contribute to the overall progress of society.
The dialogue also provided an opportunity for stakeholders to exchange ideas on the political and socio-economic future of Okunland, with participants emphasising the need for unity, peaceful coexistence and collective action.
The event ended with renewed calls for Okun leaders and stakeholders to sustain dialogue and cooperation while pursuing initiatives capable of promoting the development and political advancement of the region.
