Attah Igala Youth Dynasty Pays Courtesy Visit to Provost of College of Health Sciences and Technology, Idah
The atmosphere at the office of the Provost of Kogi State College of Health Sciences and Technology, Idah was filled with warmth, admiration, and cultural reverence as members of the Attah Igala Youth Dynasty paid a courtesy and congratulatory visit to the institution’s chief executive.
The delegation, made up of prominent youths and stakeholders from the Igala kingdom, stated that their visit was aimed at identifying with the Provost over his emergence as the substantive Provost of the College and to commend his visionary leadership, dedication, and commitment towards repositioning the institution for greater academic excellence.
Addressing the Provost during the visit, the leader of the delegation described him as a dependable friend of the College whose passion for educational advancement and institutional development has continued to inspire confidence among staff, students, and members of the host community. The group noted that his transition from Acting Provost to substantive Provost was well deserved, considering the remarkable progress and administrative stability the institution has experienced under his leadership.
In line with the rich cultural heritage and traditions of the Igala people, kola nut was ceremonially broken during the gathering as prayers and blessings were offered to the gods and ancestors for divine wisdom, protection, sound health, and greater success in the administration of the Provost. The symbolic exercise reflected the unity, goodwill, and strong cultural connection between the institution and the people of the land.
Speaking during the interaction, the Provost expressed profound appreciation to the Attah Igala Youth Dynasty for the honour done to him and for their continued support towards the progress of the College. He described the visit as a demonstration of love, unity, and collective responsibility towards the advancement of education in Igala land and Kogi State at large.
The Provost used the opportunity to reel out some of the achievements recorded by his administration from the time he served in acting capacity to his present position as substantive Provost. According to him, the institution has continued to witness transformation in several areas including academic improvement, strengthening of administrative processes, enhancement of staff welfare, infrastructural development, accreditation efforts, and improved visibility of the College among health institutions in Nigeria.
He further disclosed that his administration remains committed to building a standard health institution capable of producing highly skilled and competent health professionals that can compete favourably anywhere in the world. He added that efforts are ongoing to attract more development projects, improve learning facilities, and create a conducive environment for both staff and students.
While acknowledging the challenges facing tertiary institutions in the country, the Provost passionately appealed to sons and daughters of Igala land, philanthropists, alumni associations, corporate organizations, and other stakeholders to support the College in addressing some of its pressing needs.
He specifically commended the philanthropic contributions of the Lona Foundation, describing the foundation as a worthy partner in educational and community development. According to him, the foundation has already registered its name positively in the history of the institution through its generous interventions and support.
The Provost therefore called on other well-meaning individuals and organizations to emulate the gesture of the foundation by contributing to the growth and development of the College through the provision of facilities, educational support materials, scholarships, and other forms of assistance capable of improving teaching, learning, and community service.
He emphasized that government alone cannot provide all the resources needed for the smooth running and expansion of tertiary institutions, stressing that collaborative support from stakeholders remains essential in achieving sustainable growth and development in the education sector.
The delegation commended the Provost for his openness, humility, and developmental strides, assuring him of their continuous support and cooperation in his efforts to move the institution to greater heights.
The visit ended on a peaceful and joyful note with group photographs, prayers for the continued peace and progress of the College, and renewed commitment towards the collectivey development of education and youth empowerment in Igala land.
