Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo Grants Clemency to K1 De Ultimate, Comfort Emmanson, and ValueJet Pilots
Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has announced significant relief for musician Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, Ibom Airline passenger Comfort Emmanson, and ValueJet pilots Captain Oluranti Ogoyi and First Officer Ivan Oloba.
The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) will reduce K1 De Ultimate’s flight ban from six months to one month.
Additionally, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) will work with the music star to engage him as an ambassador for proper airport security protocols.
While Comfort Emmanson, the Ibom Airline has agreed to withdraw its complaint against her, and the police will facilitate her release from Kirikiri Prisons within the week.
The Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) has also lifted the lifetime flying ban imposed on her.
The NCAA will restore the licenses of Captain Oluranti Ogoyi and First Officer Ivan Oloba after a one-month suspension and mandatory professional re-appraisal.
The Minister has directed a retreat for aviation security personnel to focus on handling disruptive passengers and de-escalating tense situations.
He noted that Airlines will conduct internal sessions to address staff conduct and attitude towards travelers.
According to the minister, the decisions were taken on compassionate grounds, emphasizing the importance of safety and security in the aviation sector.
Keyamo stressed that government will not tolerate clear encroachment of laws and has decided to draw a line after these clemencies
