Bandits Invade Ayetoro-Kiri community, Kidnapped timber contractor, Enoch Johnson, and five others
Ayetoro-Kiri community in Bunu District of Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area, Kogi State, has come under attack by suspected bandits, and kidnapped Enoch Johnson, a timber contractor, Elder Maiye who works as security guard at the community secondary school, a young girl, Dupe Oshe,
Kehinde Lot, Tope Olorunshe and one other that the name is not known yet, are among the victims still with the kidnappers.
According to the information given to our reporter, the incident happened yesterday afternoon, in broad daylight, when the men of the underworld threw the residents into a panic as fears grew over the safety of the kidnapped persons.
Eyewitnesses confirmed that the gunmen stormed the vulnerable community in motorcycles shooting sporadically, first to dislodge the only phone charger shop where they took away more than fifty (50) phones that was on charging, causing chaos before they made away with their victims.
The rising wave of insecurity in Bunu District of the local government has become a source of concern for the locals, who are calling on security agencies, the state government, and relevant authorities to take urgent steps to reduce the activities of the bandits in the area.
The National President of the Aiyetoro-Kiri Development Association, Engr. Tolufashe Olusegun described the ugly incident as one too many, pointing out that the people of Bunu land can no longer access their farmland and those in the community are moving around with fear. He called on relevant security agencies and the government to intervene to rescue the kidnapped victims and also upscale the security architecture of the entire area.
He said the leadership of the community has already met to find a way to safeguard their community with the help of the government and security agencies, and urged the residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious movement.
This attack adds to a growing list of security breaches in Kogi State, highlighting the need for strengthened measures to protect lives and property.
