Because we are your children, protect our political growth next month – Rt Honourable Umar to Lokoja people

26th October, 2023

The speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Honourable Aliyu Umar Yusuf has urged the people of Lokoja Local Government Area to protect the political growth of those they have elected into the State and Federal Legislative Arms of Government by ensuring they vote for the APC in next month’s gubernatorial election to help them protect their positions.

This is contained in a press statement signed and made available to journalists in Lokoja by the Chief Press Secretary to the speaker, Yabagi Mohammed.

The statement said he stated this on Thursday in Kabawa, during the Flag-off of Ward ‘E’ campaign for Lokoja Local Government Area.

According to the statement, the speaker noted that as children, brothers, uncles and relations to the people of the area, there is the need for Lokoja people to repeat their massive votes for the ruling party to sustain the momentum currently being enjoyed in the state.

Rt Honourable Umar noted that it would be counterproductive for Lokoja and Kogi people to back a party whose ideology was antithetical to the ruling party as it would be in variance with the objectives of APC programmes at all levels.

He said the incoming administration has the state’s best interest at heart, noting that as a member of another arm of government, they have resolved in the current State Assembly, to work only for the development of the entire state.

Other speakers at the event, including the member representing Lokoja I State Constituency, Hon Bin-Ebaiya Shehu Tijjani (BEST); the Co-DG of the state APC Campaign Council, Hon Suleiman Babadoko; Lokoja Local Government Chairman, Hon Muhammed Dan’Asabe Muhammed; the Local Government Director General of the campaign, Hon Fancy-jimoh Tiamiyu; and other stalwarts all restated their commitment towards ensuring the victory of the party.
