The remains of former Kogi State Governor, His Excellency Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, have arrived at the International Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, as the state begins preparations to bid a final farewell to one of its former leaders.
Kogi State Governor and Chief Mourner, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, led a high-powered delegation of dignitaries to the airport on Thursday to receive the remains of the former governor.
Governor Ododo was joined by former Kogi State Governor, His Excellency Yahaya Adoza Bello, CON; former Governor Captain Idris Ichalla Wada; and other prominent government officials, political leaders, traditional rulers, family members and sympathisers.
The solemn arrival according to sympathisers marked another significant moment in the final journey of Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, whose passing has drawn tributes from across Kogi State and beyond.
The atmosphere at the airport was emotional as the remains of the former governor were received by leaders who had served at different periods in the political history of Kogi State.
Alhaji Ibrahim Idris served as Governor of Kogi State from 2003 to 2008 and remains an important figure in the state’s political history.
