Chairman of Gwale Local Government Seals DPM’s Office Over Alleged Misconduct
The Chairman of Gwale Local Government Area, Abubakar Mu’azu Mojo, has taken drastic action by sealing the office of the Local Government’s Director of Personnel Management (DPM), Alhaji Danjuma Zubair Babeji.
The decision, announced on Premier Radio 102.7 FM Kano on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, stems from allegations of insubordination and the loss of critical documents, which the Chairman claims have significantly disrupted the administration and activities of the LGA.
Chairman Mojo accused the DPM of deliberately undermining his leadership, asserting that such actions were sabotaging his efforts to deliver on his mandate. “I will not tolerate such indiscipline and negligence of duty,” the Chairman declared. “I am here to serve the interests and needs of the entire people of Gwale LGA, and I am not afraid of anybody. The DPM must go.”
Mojo revealed that he had officially reported the matter to the Kano State Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, requesting the immediate replacement of the DPM. “I have written a complaint letter to the Ministry, and I am awaiting their decision. If the DPM does not leave, I will resign from my position,” he reiterated.
The Chairman also issued a stern warning, indicating that he, along with councillors and advisers, would collectively resign if the matter was not resolved in his favor. “This is not the first time. Even when I served as Interim Management Committee Chairman in this LGA, he did not obey my directives. This should be the last time. I swear I will not work with the DPM, and I have closed his office,” he emphasized.
Efforts to reach Alhaji Danjuma Zubair Babeji for his response have so far been unsuccessful. Premier Radio confirmed that they would continue seeking a reaction from the DPM to provide a balanced account of the situation.
This development has sparked widespread discussions among Gwale LGA residents, with many awaiting the State Ministry’s response to the Chairman’s complaint and the unfolding political drama within the Local Government administration.
