Chief Edward David Onoja Clarifies Statement on Kogi East Electrification Project

Abuja – Chief Edward David Onoja has addressed recent comments regarding the electrification project of Kogi East, clarifying that Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo did not imply any public servant from the immediate past administration was involved in contract irregularities.

In a statement, Onoja emphasized that awarding contracts to serving public officers or linked companies violates the public service code of conduct.

He expressed doubt that the administration he served for 8 years would recklessly award billions of naira in contracts to a serving official.

Onoja stated that if wrongdoing occurred, justice should take its course, and anyone guilty must be held accountable.

He cautioned against speculation, noting Governor Ododo didn’t mention any contractor or company by name.

“Until facts are established and names are formally disclosed, speculation should not be elevated to truth,” Onoja said. He urged careful reading and responsible engagement on the matter.
