11th September, 2023

The Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Aliyu Umar Yusuf has urged a support group rooting for Hon A A Yaba Maisaka as the next Chairman of Lokoja Local Government Area to concentrate on the victory of the APC in the next election as it is the catalyst to making that possible.

In a press statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the speaker, Yabagi Mohammed, Rt Hon Yusuf stated this when he received the group on a courtesy visit on Monday and thanked them for their efforts towards ensuring the party’s victory in the next gubernatorial election.

He noted that stakeholders in the party are taking note and seeing the efforts being put in place by the group and others, noting that at the right time, they would be rewarded.

While describing the group’s principal as a brother, the speaker enjoined them to sustain their house-to-house campaign for the candidature of Alhaji Ododo Ahmed Usman, noting that it is his victory that would herald the possibility of visit to their own brother who is the head the legsilature in the state.

He assured them of his open door policy, promising that he would work assiduously to ensure the victory of the APC in the next election, a task, he appealed to them to help him to achieve.

Instead of the gratitude expressed by the group, the speaker thanked them for their efforts, insisting that their effort was assisting him to take the message of the party to the grassroots.

Rt Hon Yusuf urged the group, largely made up of young persons, to take their education seriously even if they want to take to politics, stressing that acting as volunteers to political actors was good, but that they would make better politicians if they get good quality education before venturing into fully.

Speaking, the member representing Lokoja I State Constituency, Hon Bin-Ebaiya Shehu Tijjani (BEST) had also thanked the group for the visit, noting that he and the speaker have been working hard as representives of Lokoja Local Government in the Assembly to ensure provision of dividends of democracy to the people.

The group had earlier in their remarks, congratulated the speaker on his emergence, and thanked him for his efforts towards ensuring the people of the area gained necessary socioeconomic and political benefits from the government.

They therefore appealed to the speaker to support their principal as the next Chairman of Lokoja Local Government Area.
