Niger Delta Transparency Watch Group (NDTWG)

12 – 12 – 2024.

Office of the National Security Advisor (NSA)
Inspector General of Police (IGP)
Department of State Security (DSS)

Dear Sir/Madam,

Petition Against Mr. Jude Gbaboyor for Cyberstalking and Bullying

We, the Niger Delta Transparency Watch Group (NDTWG), write to bring to your attention the ongoing cyberstalking and bullying of Dr. Dennis Otuaro, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, and the Gbaramatu kingdom by Mr. Jude Gbaboyor.

As an organization operating in the Niger Delta region, we are deeply concerned about the psychological damage this evil propaganda can cause to society and Nigerians. We believe it is essential to address this issue promptly.

According to the Nigerian Cybercrime Act, specifically Section 24(2), it is a crime to intentionally transmit a communication that threatens, bullies, or harasses another person. The penalty for this offense is up to 10 years in prison and a minimum fine of N25,000,000.

Furthermore, Section 58 of the Cybercrimes Act defines cyberstalking as a course of conduct that causes a reasonable person to feel fear.

Cyberstalking is a serious offense that can have severe consequences on the mental and emotional well-being of the victims. It is often accompanied by real-time or offline stalking and can be motivated by a desire to control, intimidate, or influence the victim.

The impacts of cyberbullying and cyberstalking can be severe and far-reaching, including:

Psychological Impact:
– Low self-esteem
– Anxiety
– Depression
– Suicidal ideation or behavior
– Negative emotions such as fear, distress, concern, or helplessness

Physical Impact:
– Headaches
– Stomachaches
– Eating disorders
– Other physical health problems

Sleep Issues:
– Difficulty in sleeping

Behavior Changes:
– Changes in behavior as a result of cyberbullying or cyberstalking

Whereas, according to UN human rights laws, every individual has the inherent right to be treated with respect, dignity, and compassion. This includes the right to be safe and free from violence, harassment, and bullying.

A life free from violence and cruel, inhuman, and degrading treatment is a fundamental human right. Bullying and harassment can lead to violations of numerous human rights, including:

1. _Right to Health_: Bullying can negatively impact physical and mental health, causing harm through physical injuries, stress-related illnesses, depression, and other health issues.

2. _Right to Work and Fair Working Conditions_: Bullying can result in higher absenteeism, poor performance, and an unsafe working environment.

3. _Right to Freedom of Expression_: Bullying can compromise an individual’s freedom to express their feelings or opinions, as they may no longer feel safe doing so.

In light of the above, we urge you to take immediate action to arrest Mr. Jude Gbaboyor and put an end to this cyberbullying. We also request that you investigate this matter thoroughly and ensure that justice is served.

Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.

Sincerely,

Comrade Simon Ogbe
Niger Delta Transparency Watch Group (NDTWG)
