De Family Club 1975 has commended Governor Yahaya Bello for locating a new University in the ancient town of Kabba, Kogi State.
In a letter of appreciation written by the National President of De Family Club 1975 Alfred Adewumi dated 28th June 2023, the association explained that education is the predominant enterprise of the Okun people of Kogi State.
Adewumi, who is a former Commander, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, (NDLEA) in Kogi State further noted that, the approval for the establishment of a University in Kabba have answered the age-long prayers of Okun people for a university in their community to cater to the needs of their youths who desire university education.
The letter reads in part “De Family Club 1975 is a non-partisan social club comprising accomplished men of Kabba origin driven by the desire to foster development of our community. We are genuinely moved by our common concern and shared interest in the overall development of our fatherland (Oweland).
“Successive Governments in the State have failed to fulfil their promises to establish a university in Okunland. But you proved that you are of a different stock. You gave us your word and made it your bond. We cannot thank you enough.
“Now, our teeming admission-seeking youths in Okunland will have easy access to university education within their locality. The university will not only take our youths away from crime and out of the streets, it will also provide job opportunities for our unemployed graduates as well as stimulate economic activities.”
