Death Rumor about Professor Hafsat Ganduje Strongly Debunked

By Bala Salihu Dawakin Kudu Democracy Newsline on January 26, 2026

The attention of the public has been drawn to a false and malicious rumor circulating on social media platforms, deliberately spread by some irresponsible individuals, alleging the death of Professor Hafsat Abdullahi Umar Ganduje (Khadimul Islam), wife of the former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former Governor of Kano State, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, OFR.

We wish to categorically and unequivocally state that this report is entirely false, misleading, and without any factual basis. Professor Hafsat Abdullahi Umar Ganduje is alive, healthy, and in good condition.
While it is a universal truth that death is inevitable and ordained by Allah for every human being, the act of spreading false news about someone’s death is a grave moral and ethical wrongdoing. Such behavior reflects a disturbing lack of fear of Allah and a blatant disregard for human dignity, family values, and societal peace.

Islam teaches us that life and death are solely in the hands of Allah, and no soul shall depart except at its appointed time. To trivialize death or use it as a tool for mischief and misinformation is both sinful and condemnable.

We therefore call on those responsible for originating and circulating this baseless rumor to immediately retract it, seek forgiveness, and desist from such harmful actions. Failure to do so will leave us with no option but to pursue appropriate legal action in accordance with the law, to protect the dignity, safety, and reputation of the affected family.

We also urge members of the public to exercise caution, verify information before sharing, and refrain from amplifying unverified reports that may cause unnecessary panic, emotional distress, or reputational damage.
May Allah (SWT) continue to protect Professor Hafsat Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and her entire family.

May He grant Kano State and Nigeria continued peace, unity, and progress, and bless our nation with responsible leadership and truthful communication.
