DEFECTION TO PDP: KOGI WEST CHAPTER WELCOMES ADC CHIEFTAIN, MEMBERS; MORE TO JOIN FROM OTHER PARTIES ACROSS THE STATE
The recent defection of Barrister Dele Williams Bello, the African Democratic Congress, (ADC), candidate for Kogi West Senatorial District at the 2023 General Elections to the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), signposts the mass movement of people from other political parties across the State.
Barrister Bello, along with many of his supporters at the event which took place in Kabba, recently, noted that, “the PDP is the only organic party in Nigeria, where internal democracy thrives, gives equal opportunities to members, and is well accepted by the people.”
Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Yusuf, Member of the party’s Board of Trustees reiterated that, “the PDP remains the only political party that can bring true dividends of democracy to the people of Nigeria.” He charged everyone “to go back to their respective Wards, and work together towards rebuilding the party in the State.” He also admonished “party faithful across the State to heartily welcome new members, and ensure that the PDP is properly positioned for the 2027 General Elections, which we are confident will bring the leading status of the party to national status.”
Hon. Esther Soje, State Women Leader commended all the new members, “particularly, women, who remains an integral part of any political movement. Let me assure you that, today, as you have joined the PDP, you are now part of us, and we shall all work together as one as we prepare for next year’s General Elections.”
While eulogizing the commitment of the party faithful to the on-going membership drive, Hon. Abdulkadiri Ibrahim, State Organizing Secretary emphasized on the need, “for intensive mobilization, sensitization, and enlightenment towards ensuring that more people register as members in their various Wards across the State.”
Hon. Sunday Olufemi, State Secretary, who assured the gathering that more people from some other political parties are expected to join the PDP after the completion of a series of meetings and consultations encouraged, “all party members, both old and new to remain steadfast and focus in marketing the PDP to as many people as possible, particularly those who have now realized that our party is still the best.”
The high point of the ceremony was the formal presentation of the PDP card to Barrister Bello, as a member of the Asuta Ward, Kabba. The event was attended by many PDP Leaders, Officials, and Members including Hon Toluh Mike Segun assit Org Sec, Hon Paul Ayodele chairmanPDP Kabba-Bunu; and Hon Johnson Abejirin Kogi West PDP chairman.
