The Senior Special Assistant to the Delta State Governor on Political Matters, Dr. Hope George, has declared that the just-concluded Delta State Economic and Investment Summit has firmly established Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori as a visionary leader committed to building a resilient, diversified and investment-driven economy, saying the three-day summit has set the stage for unprecedented economic growth, industrial expansion and sustainable prosperity across the state.
Dr. Hope George, in a statement issued following the successful conclusion of the summit held from August 3 to 5, 2026, described the event as one of the most significant economic initiatives ever undertaken by any administration in Delta State, noting that it reflected Governor Oborevwori’s deliberate resolve to reposition the oil-rich state as Nigeria’s preferred investment destination.
He maintained that the summit was far more than a ceremonial gathering of government officials, investors and development partners, stressing that it represented a carefully designed economic blueprint aimed at unlocking the vast economic potential of Delta State through strategic partnerships, private sector participation, industrial development and sustainable wealth creation.
According to him, Governor Oborevwori has once again demonstrated that his administration is driven by purposeful leadership, strategic thinking and a firm commitment to translating policy declarations into measurable developmental outcomes.
“The Delta State Economic and Investment Summit is undoubtedly one of the greatest milestones recorded in our state’s recent history. It is a bold affirmation of the Governor’s unwavering commitment to economic transformation, investment promotion and sustainable development. Once again, His Excellency has shown that leadership is defined by action, not rhetoric,” Dr. Hope George stated.
He observed that at a time when sub-national governments across Nigeria are intensifying efforts to diversify their economies in the face of fluctuating oil revenues and growing fiscal pressures, Delta State has distinguished itself by convening a world-class investment summit capable of attracting both domestic and foreign investors while showcasing the state’s enormous comparative advantages in agriculture, energy, manufacturing, infrastructure, technology, tourism, the blue economy and the creative industry.
The Governor’s aide said the summit has significantly enhanced investor confidence in Delta State by demonstrating that the Oborevwori administration possesses both the political will and institutional capacity to provide an enabling environment where businesses can thrive, investments can flourish and employment opportunities can be expanded.
Dr. Hope George further noted that the summit has equally placed a moral and economic responsibility on the youth of Delta State to prepare themselves to become major beneficiaries of the opportunities expected to emerge from the implementation of the summit’s resolutions.
He urged young people across the state to embrace entrepreneurship, innovation, digital skills, vocational training and enterprise development, emphasizing that sustainable economic growth can only be achieved when government initiatives are matched by the productivity, creativity and resilience of the people.
“Our youths must not remain spectators in this unfolding economic revolution. Government has opened the doors through visionary policies and strategic investments. It is now left for our young men and women to equip themselves with relevant skills, establish innovative enterprises and become active drivers of Delta State’s economic renaissance,” he said.
Expressing confidence in the long-term impact of the summit, Dr. Hope George said the initiative would accelerate industrialization, stimulate inclusive economic growth, strengthen public-private partnerships, create thousands of direct and indirect jobs, increase internally generated revenue and improve the overall quality of life for Deltans.
He congratulated Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori for what he described as the successful delivery of a historic economic summit and applauded development partners, investors, captains of industry and other stakeholders whose participation contributed to the success of the initiative.
Dr. Hope George also congratulated the people of Delta State for embracing what he called a new era of economic renewal, expressing optimism that the summit would serve as a turning point in the state’s developmental journey.
“The foundation has been laid for a stronger economy, expanded investment opportunities and shared prosperity. With sustained implementation of the summit’s resolutions and the continued support of all stakeholders, Delta State is undoubtedly on course to becoming one of Nigeria’s foremost centres for investment, enterprise and inclusive economic development,” Dr. Hope George concluded.
