Democracy Newsline Newspaper to Hold Anniversary Public Lecture Today

Democracy Newsline Newspaper is set to mark a significant milestone today, August 26, 2025, as it holds its 15th Anniversary Public Lecture and Award Ceremony.
The event promises to be a gathering of esteemed individuals from various sectors, including government, media, and civil society.

The public lecture, which will take place at the Banquet Hall, National Merit House, Maitama, Abuja, will feature a keynote discussion on “The Role of Independent Media Organizations in Promoting Participatory Democracy and Good Governance in Nigeria.”
The event under the chairmanship of Professor Emeritus Olu Obafemi is expected to provide a platform for critical thinking, debate, and reflection on the role of media in shaping Nigeria’s democratic journey.
The ceremony will also include the presentation of awards to outstanding individuals who have made significant contributions to various fields and it will kick off by 5pm.
The occasion will also mark the launch of a ₦100 million fund for the procurement of podcast studio equipment and the establishment of Democracy Newsline Newspaper Online Television. This initiative aims to further promote democracy and good governance in Nigeria by providing a platform for critical thinking and debate.
