Democracy Newsline Newspaper to Honour Gov. Ahmed Usman Ododo as “Best Performing State Governor on Security in Nigeria” on August 19

Democracy Newsline Newspaper is set to honour the Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, as the “Best Performing State Governor on Security in Nigeria.”
The award will be presented to Governor Ododo on Tuesday, August 19, 2026, during the newspaper’s 16th Public Lecture and Induction into the Good Governance Hall of Fame scheduled to hold at the Banquet Hall, National Merit House, Maitama, Abuja by 5pm.
The event, with the theme “Economic Reform and Sustainable Development in a Democracy: The Nigeria Experience”, is part of activities to mark 27 years of uninterrupted democracy in Nigeria.
Announcing this in Abuja, the Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of Democracy Newsline Newspaper, Chief Olugbemi Femi, said Governor Ododo was selected for his outstanding strides in securing lives and property in Kogi State.
According to Chief Femi, the Kogi Governor has, within a short period, repositioned the state’s security architecture through intelligence-driven operations, support for security agencies, and strong collaboration with traditional rulers and community vigilantes.
“Kogi State under Governor Ododo has witnessed a significant drop in kidnapping, banditry and communal clashes. He has made the state safe for farming, business and investment. This award is to encourage him and other leaders to prioritize the security of the people,” Chief Femi said.
He added that the _Good Governance Hall of Fame_ is designed to celebrate public office holders who have demonstrated commitment to transparency, accountability and service delivery.
The 16th Public Lecture will be delivered by Mukadam Asiwaju Asiru Idris, FCA, Honourable Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, Kogi State.
Chief (Mrs) Moji Makanjuola, Veteran Broadcaster, will serve as Chairperson, while Hon. Mohammed Idris, Honourable Minister of Information and National Orientation, will be the Special Guest of Honour.
Other distinguished Nigerians are also expected to be inducted into the Democracy Newsline Good Governance Hall of Fame at the event.
