Dino Melaye Escapes Mob Attack as angry Youths chase him out of Aiyeteju/Kajola ward in Kabba

By Muhammad Amuda – Lokoja

It was a drama yesterday at Emmanuel Anglican Primary school in Kajola area of Aiyeteju/Kajola ward in Kabba district of Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State when the Governorship Candidate of the main opposition party, People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi State, Senator Dino Melaye was whisked away by his police aides as youths chased him out of the area during a political meeting he scheduled to hold with some groups in the area.

According to an eye witness who revealed that trouble started when one of Dino Melaye’s agents in the ward arranged a kangaro decamping program for none members of the APC that are not from the ward to PDP to show that the party still has some strength within the ward unknowingly for them that the youths loyal to the former leader that left the party few weeks ago were on vigil save guarding their area against any intruders.

The eye witness further revealed that the embattled Governorship candidate of the PDP was seen running for his dear life as his police men were shooting sporadically causing panic and pandemonium among the residents in the area when the youths descended on him chanting ” we don’t want Dino Melaye” in our ward anymore.

The ugly situation might not be unconnected with the way and manner he handled the delegates list of the party primary held last month, where names of many prominent members of the party were changed to pave way for his emergence as the candidate of the party for the November 11 Governorship Election in Kogi State.

It will also be recalled that it is the ward of Barrister Alfred Bello, the immediate past State Treasurer of the PDP who resigned his membership from the party to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) few weeks ago due to reasons he alluded to be personal to him.
