College Director of Sports Emerges KASHIGA Chairman, Sa’adatu Rimi College of Education, Kumbotso, has recorded another landmark achievement as its Director of Sports, Malam Bashir Abba, has been elected Chairman of the Kano State Higher Institutions Games Association (KASHIGA).

The election took place on Tuesday, 13th January, 2026, at the College of Arts and Preliminary Studies (CAPS), Kano, during a well-attended meeting of stakeholders drawn from higher institutions across Kano State. The exercise was conducted in an atmosphere of transparency and consensus, reflecting the confidence of members in Malam Bashir Abba’s experience and leadership in sports administration.

Reacting to the development, the Provost of Sa’adatu Rimi College of Education, Kumbotso, Dr. Kabir Ahmed Gwarzo, expressed immense delight over the emergence of Malam Bashir Abba as Chairman of KASHIGA. He described the victory as a significant milestone and a collective success for the college, noting that it underscores the institution’s growing reputation and contributions to sports development in the state.

Dr. Gwarzo further stated that the election is a clear testimony to the trust and confidence reposed in Malam Bashir Abba’s competence, dedication, and leadership qualities by the wider academic and sporting community. He urged the new Chairman to justify the confidence placed in him by working diligently to uplift sports across higher institutions, while also projecting the image of Sa’adatu Rimi College of Education positively.

In his acceptance remarks, Malam Bashir Abba expressed profound gratitude to members of KASHIGA for the confidence bestowed on him. He pledged to discharge his responsibilities with commitment, fairness, and vision, aimed at revitalizing and strengthening sports activities across higher institutions in Kano State.
The new Chairman assured that his administration would prioritize collaboration with the Kano State Government, relevant sports bodies, corporate organizations, philanthropists, and other stakeholders to mobilize resources and support for sustainable sports development. He emphasized his resolve to promote unity among institutions, nurture young talents, and establish inclusive and competitive sporting programs that would enhance participation and excellence among students.

The election of Malam Bashir Abba is widely regarded as a boost to sports administration in Kano State and a recognition of Sa’adatu Rimi College of Education, Kumbotso, as a key contributor to inter-institutional sporting activities. Stakeholders have expressed optimism that his leadership will usher in renewed vigor, professionalism, and growth for KASHIGA.
