Ebonyi Community Rejects Proposed “Eguho Ezekunna” Community
The people of Ogboji Eguho in the old Ezzagu zone have strongly rejected the creation of the proposed “Eguho Ezekunna” community in Ishielu local government of Ebonyi state.
They noted that what has been agitated by the people was “Eguho” autonomous community which comprises of both Eguho Ogboji and Nkomoro brothers, and not “Eguho Ezekunna” which is only Eguho Nkomoro kindred.
In a communique issued after an emergency meeting, the people of Ogboji noted that it was divisive and act of betrayal from their Nkomoro brothers to exclude them in the agitation for a new proposed community.
They further called on Ebonyi state governor, Chief Francis Nwifuru to reject every proposal and consideration for the creation of any autonomous community from old Ezzagu zone pending the ratification of every internal issues.
The communique was signed by selected stakeholders including Chief Joseph Oruta, Chief Emeka Linus Obaji, Barr T. S. Umoke, Mr Benjamin Nworie, Mr Chukwuebuka Iruka, Comr. Prince John Ogar and Mr Uchenna Micheal Mbaba on behalf of Ogboji Eguho Ezzagu people.
According to the communique: “sequel to the disheartening information reaching us regarding the sheer act of betrayal from our brothers from Nkomoro extraction, our genuine and collective resolve to pursue and get an approval for “Eguho Autonomous Community” from Ebonyi State Government”.
“The recent turn of event by changing the proposed name of our Community from “Eguho Autonomous Community” to “Eguho Ezekuna Autonomous Community” without due process, consultations and/ or approval from the Ogboji Eguho extraction, was an act of betrayal”.
The people also called for the withdrawal of any documents submitted to Senator Julius Ucha and Chief Felix Ereke led committee bearing “Eguho Ezekunna” community.
They further called on their people to remain calm and supportive to Governor Francis Nwifuru’s administration as all efforts were being made to ensure that the issue was well addressed.
