The 2026 Batch ‘C’ Stream II Corps Members deployed to Ebonyi State have been charged to use the service year to reaffirm their commitment to national unity, youth development and service to humanity.
In her address during the swearing in and official opening ceremony of the 2026 Batch ‘C’ Stream 11 Orientation Course for Corps members, the State Coordinator of NYSC, Mrs Malgwi Pat. Maidariya noted that the Corps remains one of Nigeria’s important instruments for promoting national integration, fostering understanding among diverse peoples and developing responsible citizens.
She further charged the Corps members to use the orientation course as an opportunity to learn, serve, build relationships and make a positive difference in your host communities.
According to the State Coordinator: “I encourage you to approach this service year with an open mind, discipline and a strong sense of responsibility. The Orientation Course is designed to prepare you for the responsibilities ahead”.
“I therefore urge you to participate actively in all camp activities, including lectures, drills, physical training, skills acquisition programmes and other activities designed for your development”.
Mrs Maidariya said that the theme of the 2026 Batch ‘C’ Orientation Course, “Reimagining the NYSC Orientation Course: Building Resilient, Responsible and Service-Oriented Corps Members for a Changing World,” reflected the need to equip Corps Members with the values, knowledge and practical skills required to respond effectively to contemporary challenges and contribute meaningfully to nation-building.
The State Coordinator added that the theme also aligned with the development agenda of the Ebonyi State Government, particularly its emphasis on human capital development, youth empowerment, skills acquisition, entrepreneurship, responsible citizenship and inclusive development.
“In Ebonyi State, we recognise that youth development is central to sustainable development. We therefore appreciate the State Government for its continued partnership with the NYSC and support towards the welfare of Corps Members and the effective implementation of the Scheme”.
“This ceremony marks the beginning of another important chapter in the lives of these young Nigerians as they commence their service to the nation”.
“It is also an opportunity to reaffirm the shared commitment of the National Youth Service Corps, the Ebonyi State Government and other stakeholders to national unity, youth development and service to humanity”.
“The NYSC remains one of Nigeria’s important instruments for promoting national integration, fostering understanding among our diverse peoples and developing responsible citizens”.
She appreciated the continuous support and partnership which Governor Francis Nwifuru’s administration has extended to the NYSC Scheme in the State.
“Your administration’s emphasis on human capital development, youth empowerment, skills acquisition, infrastructure and inclusive development aligns closely with the objectives of the NYSC and creates opportunities for Corps Members to contribute meaningfully to the development of the State”,.Mrs Maidariya said.
However, she appealed for support towards the modernisation of the camp kitchen and construction of a standard dining hall; establishment of a functional Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development Centre; renovation of the perimeter fencing to enhance security; and provision of additional seating and facilities in the multipurpose hall.
