Edejor Community leaders, members of the Body of Christ, and other stakeholders in Delta State have made a passionate appeal to His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, the Executive Governor of Delta State, to urgently intervene in the deplorable condition of the Edejor road linking the community to Jakpa Road, Effurun, Uvwie LGA.
Speaking during a community stakeholders’ meeting, the leaders described the Edejor road as a major lifeline that has remained untarred for decades, causing untold hardship to residents, church members, traders, schoolchildren, and other road users.
According to them, the road becomes completely impassable during the rainy season, effectively cutting the community off from essential services, markets, healthcare facilities, and educational institutions.
The Community Chairman, Elder Sunday Egboye, told journalists:
“This road is our only link to the outside Jakpa Road. During the rains, vehicles get stuck for hours; the flood renders the road useless.”
Elder Egboye further noted that Edejor is a large, commercially oriented community with significant potential to contribute to the local economy of Uvwie, but the poor road network has stalled commercial activities and crippled social life.
Pastor Godfrey Oliseyenum of the Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries, speaking on behalf of church leaders, commended Governor Oborevwori for his MORE Agenda, particularly his commitment to rural infrastructure, road construction, and inclusive development. He expressed confidence that the governor would extend the dividends of democracy to Edejor by tarring the road.
“We believe in the MORE Agenda — Meaningful Development, Opportunities for All, Real Reforms, and Enhanced Peace and Security. All we are asking is for our road to be tarred so our people can feel a sense of belonging,” Pastor Oliseyenum said.
Christian lyere, the Community Secretary,
Who also spoke appealed to the Delta State Ministry of Works and relevant agencies to conduct an on-the-spot assessment of the road, stressing that early intervention would prevent the perennial flooding that has become an unbearable experience for residents.
The community and church leaders assured the state government of their continued support for peace, development initiatives, and government programs, pledging continued cooperation provided the Edejor road project is approved and executed.
Residents expressed hope that their appeal would receive swift attention, noting that improved road infrastructure would boost economic activities, enhance security, and improve the overall quality of life in Edejor Community — all in line with the vision of Governor Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda.
