Edime Declares Support for Ododo–Oyibo Continuity Agenda, Calls on Kogi East Youths to Participate in 2027
Political activist and youth advocate, Edison Atumeyi Edime, has publicly declared his support for the re-election bid of Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, and his deputy, Comrade Elder Joel Salifu Oyibo, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Edime, in a statement made available to the media, described the declaration as his personal political position, stressing that he was not speaking on behalf of any group or organisation.
He said he had chosen to openly identify with the Ododo–Oyibo continuity agenda, pledging to use his voice, writing and platforms to advocate for the political position he believes in.

“I stand with Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and Deputy Governor Comrade Elder Joel Salifu Oyibo. I endorse the Ododo–Oyibo continuity agenda for 2027,” Edime declared.
He, however, emphasised that political participation must remain within the framework of democracy, saying political strength should be built through organisation, ideas, persuasion, mobilisation and the ballot box rather than violence or intimidation.
The youth advocate subsequently called on young people across Kogi East to become more active in the political process, specifically mentioning communities and local government areas including Ofu, Idah, Dekina, Ankpa, Ibaji, Olamaboro and Omala.
According to him, youths should not remain passive participants in politics while decisions affecting their future are being made.
“We cannot demand youth representation while leaving politics entirely to others. We cannot wait for somebody to carry our voices to the corridors of power. We must take our voices there ourselves,” he said.
Edime urged youths who share his political position to organise peacefully at the grassroots, engage their communities and encourage eligible citizens to participate in elections and exercise their political choices through lawful democratic means.
He also called for grassroots mobilisation, voter participation and protection of the ballot, while urging citizens to study the records and issues before making their choices at the polls.
The declaration comes amid growing political activity ahead of the 2027 elections in Kogi State. Governor Ododo has already directed political appointees to intensify grassroots engagement ahead of the elections, with emphasis on reaching youths, women, community leaders and other stakeholders. �

Supporters of the governor have also been promoting a continuity message based on the administration’s development programmes. The state government’s account highlights initiatives across infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture and youth empowerment, while a recent State House report noted the continuation of some development projects from the previous administration under Ododo. �

Edime said his endorsement should not be interpreted as a call for political intolerance, stressing that it represents his personal conviction and that citizens remain free to make their own choices at the ballot box.
“This is not a call to violence. This is a call to political consciousness. This is not a call for hatred. This is a call to democratic participation,” he stated.
He further pledged to continue advocating for youth participation and development while maintaining his right to question government policies and demand accountability.
Concluding his statement, Edime urged Kogi youths to register, participate, organise and mobilise peacefully, saying the younger generation must be actively involved in shaping the political future of the state.
“My position is clear. My endorsement is public. My voice is loud. My commitment to youth advocacy remains unwavering,” he said.
