Egbeda-Egga Lauds Senator Karimi as Classroom, Borehole Project Kicks Off

The Egbeda-Egga Development Union (EDU) has commended Senator Steve Karimi, representing Kogi West Senatorial District in the National Assembly, for facilitating the construction of critical educational infrastructure at Government Special Science Secondary School (GSSSS), Egbeda-Egga, in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State.

The project, which is already underway, comprises a block of three classrooms, a principal’s office, modern toilet facilities, and a solar-powered borehole aimed at improving teaching, learning and access to potable water within the school community. The contractor handling the project, T. Set Engineering Company, has arrived in Egbeda-Egga and commenced work on the site, eliciting excitement among residents and stakeholders in the community.

Speaking on the development, the President of the Egbeda-Egga Development Union (EDU), Dr Emmanuel Dare Otitolaiye, described the intervention as a timely and impactful investment in the future of the community’s children.

According to him, the project demonstrates Senator Karimi’s commitment to grassroots development and educational advancement across Kogi West.

“The people of Egbeda-Egga are deeply appreciative of Senator Steve Karimi for this laudable intervention. Education remains one of the most effective tools for community development, and this project will significantly improve the learning environment for our students,” he said. Otitolaiye noted that the provision of additional classrooms would help address infrastructure challenges in the school, while the solar-powered borehole would ensure a reliable source of clean water for students and staff.

“This is a project that will have lasting benefits for generations of students. On behalf of the Egbeda-Egga Development Union and the entire community, we thank Senator Karimi for remembering our people and responding to a critical need in the education sector,” he added.

Also reacting, Chairman of the Egbeda-Egga Day Central Planning Committee, Comrade (Prince) Mike Olanrewaju, lauded the senator for his responsiveness to the aspirations of the people and his commitment to community development.

He described the commencement of work on the project as evidence that quality representation goes beyond legislation to include tangible interventions that directly improve the lives of constituents.

“The people of Egbeda-Egga are delighted to witness the commencement of this important project. The classrooms, principal’s office, sanitation facilities and solar borehole will make a remarkable difference in the school and the wider community,” he said.

The chairman further assured the contractor and relevant authorities of the community’s support and cooperation throughout the execution of the project.

“As a community, we will continue to support initiatives that promote education and development. We commend Senator Karimi for this thoughtful intervention and look forward to the successful completion of the project,” he stated. Residents of Egbeda-Egga have expressed optimism that the project will enhance educational standards in the area and contribute to creating a more conducive learning environment for students.

The intervention is one of several constituency development projects being facilitated by Senator Karimi across communities in Kogi West Senatorial District.

Joseph Aiyejoto, President, EDU (2016-2022).
