FROM DIVISION TO DESTINY: UNITING KOGI WEST FOR RENEWED HOPE AND SHARED PROSPERITY
A Clarion Call for Unity, Reconciliation, and Shared Prosperity
By Hon. Tunde Akanmidu, Senior Legislative Aide to the Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate.
History has consistently shown that no people can attain lasting greatness while divided against themselves. Every meaningful political victory is built not merely on the strength of individuals but on the unity of purpose among those who share a common vision.
While disagreements may arise in every democratic process, wisdom lies in knowing when to lay down our differences for the greater good and today, Kogi West stands at such a defining moment.
As the political landscape gradually takes shape ahead of the next electoral cycle, one truth remains undeniable: the collective destiny of our people is far greater than individual ambitions. The All Progressives Congress (APC) has a sacred responsibility to preserve its unity and consolidate the remarkable gains recorded under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senator Sunday Karimi, and Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.
This noble objective can only be achieved through reconciliation, forgiveness, and an unwavering commitment to one another.
Beyond the Primaries: The Time for Healing Has Come.
Political contests are naturally competitive. Every aspirant, leader, stakeholder, and supporter who participated in the party’s internal democratic process did so with genuine passion and an earnest desire to serve Kogi West. However, every contest has an end.
The primaries have come and gone. The party has spoken through its established constitutional mechanisms, and its decisions deserve the respect of every loyal member.
The season of competition must now give way to the season of collaboration.
Our collective strength has never resided in the number of our factions but in the unity of our purpose. Supporters of every aspirant remains an invaluable stakeholder in the future of Kogi West. No one should be alienated. No genuine party faithful should be left behind. The APC family is strongest when every hand is on deck.
A Rare Opportunity for Kogi West!
For perhaps the first time in many years, Kogi West enjoys a unique political alignment capable of attracting unprecedented development.
At the national level, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda continues to open new doors for infrastructure, economic growth, agriculture, security, youth empowerment, and social investment.
One visible testament to this commitment is the approval of major road rehabilitation projects worth over ₦128 billion that are expected to significantly improve connectivity across parts of Kogi West, stimulate commerce, and ease transportation for our people.
Within the National Assembly, Senator Sunday Karimi has continued to distinguish himself through purposeful representation. Beyond sponsoring motions and advocating for the interests of Kogi West on the floor of the Senate, he has facilitated developmental projects, expanded educational opportunities through scholarships and empowerment initiatives, supported youth and women with economic intervention programmes, and consistently attracted federal presence to communities across the senatorial district. His vocal advocacy for improved security, infrastructure, and inclusive development has further strengthened the voice of Kogi West at the centre.
At the state level, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has continued to demonstrate practical leadership by sustaining people-oriented programmes, strengthening rural development, improving healthcare delivery, investing in education, supporting agriculture, and consolidating security efforts across Kogi State. His administration has remained firmly aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda, ensuring that federal and state policies work together for the benefit of ordinary citizens.
This synergy between the Presidency, the Senate, and the Kogi State Government represents an invaluable opportunity that must not be weakened by internal divisions.
When leaders unite, development accelerates.
When stakeholders cooperate, communities flourish.
When families within a political party embrace peace, the dividends of democracy reach every doorstep.
An Olive Branch to Every Stakeholder!
This is a defining moment that calls for maturity, humility, and statesmanship.
To the victorious camp, true leadership is measured not only by winning elections but also by embracing those who may feel disappointed. Victory becomes truly meaningful when it heals wounds rather than deepens them.
I respectfully encourage Senator Sunday Karimi and his political structure to continue extending hands of fellowship to every leader, every stakeholder, every youth group, every woman leader, and every supporter who may feel left behind.
Inclusiveness remains the strongest foundation for enduring political success.
To our respected leaders, party elders, and stakeholders who may still feel aggrieved, I offer this humble appeal: your sacrifices, your structures, your followers, and your years of commitment remain invaluable to our party.
Kogi West still needs your wisdom.
Our people still need your experience.
The APC still needs your strength.
History remembers those who chose unity over bitterness, reconciliation over resentment, and service above self.
Let us therefore sheathe our swords.
Let us silence divisive rhetoric both online and offline.
Let us reject bitterness and embrace brotherhood.
Let us replace suspicion with trust.
Above all, let us remember that political offices are temporary, but the peace, unity, and development of our land will outlive every election.
Our Collective Victory!
The victories of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senator Sunday Karimi, and Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo are not merely individual ambitions; they represent the collective aspirations of millions of people who desire security, prosperity, quality infrastructure, employment opportunities, and a better future.
United, we become an unstoppable force.
United, we strengthen the Renewed Hope Agenda.
United, we secure greater federal attention for Kogi West.
United, we leave behind a legacy of peace, development, and political maturity for generations yet unborn.
Let this be the season of reconciliation.
Let this be the season of forgiveness.
Let this be the season of unity.
Together, we shall build a stronger APC.
Together, we shall build a greater Kogi West.
Together, we shall secure a brighter future for our people.
United we rise. Divided we only postpone our own prosperity.
May peace reign in Kogi West. May unity prevail. May progress endure.
Signed
Hon. Tunde Akanmidu.
